Camille Bennett-Campbell
Consultant

Hardworking, detailed-oriented and passionate, are only some of the attributes that would best describe Camille Bennett-Campbell’s attitude to her life and by extension her work in the law. Camille brings her almost 23 years of experience as a practicing Attorney-at-Law to EMC, as she was called to the Bar in Jamaica in 1999. She possesses a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with Honours from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus as well as a Bachelor of Arts (BA) with Honours in English from the University of the West Indies, (Mona).

Her interest in labour/employment law was first ignited when she completed a LLM in Law and Employment Relations (with Merit) at the University of Leicester, United Kingdom in 2007. However, this interest blossomed into a love of labour and employment law during her almost 13 years tenure at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MLSS) Jamaica. At the MLSS, she served as Senior Legal Officer from 2009 to 2013, Director of Legal Services (Acting) in 2014 and she was thereafter appointed as the second appointed Director in the history of the MLSS. She served in this position until July 2022.

Her tenure at the MLSS honed her skills in labour, employment and social security laws as well as occupational safety and health legislation, as she was exposed to a myriad of legal issues of varying complexity. She also played a pivotal role in the amendment and promulgation of key legislation such as:

  • The amendments to the Labour Relations and Industrial Disputes Act to allow non-unionized workers to access the Industrial Disputes Tribunal
  • The Employment (Flexible Work Arrangements Miscellaneous Provisions) Act.
  • The Protected Disclosures Act
  • The Sexual Harassment Act

She also possesses excellent knowledge of the Disabilities Act as she led the Legal aspects of the Bill through the debates in the Houses of Parliament in Jamaica.

She stands ready, willing and able to assist EMC clients in resolving their labour and Employment Law issues.
