Timothy Roper is an Attorney-in-Training with a deep passion for public and administrative law and a strong commitment to excellence. He currently serves as Employment Matters Caribbean’s Data Analyst and Social Media Manager and is completing his Legal Education Certificate at the Norman Manley Law School. Timothy earned his Bachelor of Laws from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, and graduated with First-Class Honours as Valedictorian for the Class of 2024. His academic journey has also been enriched by various leadership roles, including serving as President of the Law Society, Faculty of Law Representative and Guild Constitutional Chairperson at the UWI.

His work experience includes several internships where he gained practical experience in the legal field. Notably, Timothy served as a Legal Intern at Livingston, Alexander and Levy (LIVAL), and as a Summer Intern and Research Assistant at the Ministry of Legal & Constitutional Affairs. Timothy is also an accomplished presenter, having shared his insights on the intersection of policy and legislation at the Commonwealth Association of Legislative Counsel (CALC) Conference in Falmouth. His paper, “Unravelling the Nexus Between Policy and Legislation: Do Poor Policy Development, Inadequate Drafting Instructions, and Insufficient Resources Hamper the Legislative Process in Jamaica?” which was recently published in the December 2024 Issue of the CALC Loophole Journal was well-received.

 
His educational background is further complemented by his secondary education at Ardenne High School, where he achieved outstanding results in both CSEC and CAPE examinations. During his time at Ardenne, Timothy was actively involved in various clubs and societies, holding leadership positions such as Senior Prefect and 2nd Vice President of the Student Council. His academic achievements were recognized with several awards, including that of Most Outstanding Student in the 2019 CSEC Examinations.
